The baby has a name. Amelia Elizabeth. We were going to go down and see them this weekend but several things got in the way...including my sinus infection. Yes...it's back and I'm sick yet again; but I guess it's going around. You get a sinus infection, it goes away for a week to 10 days and then it comes back; which is exactly what mine did. The doc put me on stronger meds so hopefully this will get rid of it this time. The people at RediMed are starting to recognize me!
In other news, I went to the opening of the Women's and Children's Hospital at Parkview today. It was pretty cool. The colors were very soothing and the baby rooms were very cute. I got an invitation in the mail the other week and I think it's because I work at a daycare.
Speaking of which, I will be getting a new kid in my daycare class on Monday. I will lose 2 but only gain one. One of the kids that's moving down is the one I call chunkers. He is 18 months or so but I swear weighs like 30 lbs. After lifting him up and down for 3 hours, my back hurts. I'm glad he's moving down but he'll probably be back in my class in a couple months. He's smarter than some of the 2 yr olds in the class.

What ever happened to manners?!
So I'm at my brother's basketball game tonight(we lost by the way) and I'm talking to my mom at half time and a mother of one of the boys on the team comes up and just starts talking. Completely oblivious to everything else that's going on. This is not the first time she's done it either. My mom told her to wait a min and let me finish what I was saying but once I was done, she butted in. I would expect this out of my toddlers...MAYBE...but certainly not a grown woman. It is just so rude! Everytime she does it, I get madder and madder at her. It just erks me!
On a lighter note, i was in my 2nd grade class today and we were talking about Martin Luther King Jr. Today was his birthday and the teacher wanted the students to have a little backround for Monday. I had two different groups. One was reading a fairly easy book and the other a little bit harder. The 2nd group I had was much more interactive. They seemed more interested in what we were doing as well. As we were reading, one boy stops and asks me why the people were acting like that and why the blacks couldn't go to school with the whites etc. He asked me this as if it were the most important question ever asked; like he was the only one that had ever thought of that. I think they are at that age where they think that...that they are the only people that think of those type of questions. We kept reading and we got to a icture of a park that had a sign on it that said "whites only". I tried to explain to them that everyone is the same, we are all human, we just have different skin colors; and that is no reason to treat people any differently. I could tell one of the boys was thinking long and hard about it because he said "ya...i still play with my dog and he has a different skin color than me; he's black and I'm white!" It was all I could do to not burst out laughing. He was being completely serious too.

Where did all the good music go?
So I was listening to 97.3 last night and they had a flash back to the 90's. I remember those songs like it was yesterday. I knew all the words to most all of the songs. What ever happened to that type of music? What about LFO's Summer Girl and MC Hammer's Can't Touch This? There were hardly any swear words and you could actually understand the lyrics! Why has rap taken over everything we listen to? Even if it's not "true" rap, it's still different than it used to be!
I work at a daycare with 1.5-3 year olds and there is this one little boy, C, who is obsessed with the vacuum. Everytime we get it out to sweep, he insists on doing it himself. Today, his dad picked him up and C did not want to go home. C threw himself under the table and would not go. His dad told him he was going to go and get C's sister. That didn't even phase him. He still sat under the table. Finally his dad came in and asked him if he wanted to vacuum when they got home...man he got up so fast. He put his coat on and ran out of the door. I guess a little bribe never hurt anyone!

Some people...
So bad news...we didn't go to the Hockey game. My brother had been a pain all weekend so today was the icing on the cake. It's really no loss to me but...I enjoy going and people watching. It souds kind of rude but...it's really fun! You see women there that think since they bought some huge jersey, they need to grow into it. They just keep coming back with more and more food. And then comes the smells. You smell things that by themselves, wouldn't smell too bad but, combined with all the other smells, just make you nauseous! And the things people come back with. It just amazes me! Not only is all the food deep fried and incredible greasy, it's expensive. I can't imagine people who but 3 or 4 tickets for their family and then eat all that food. I would be broke after the first game. Don't get me wrong, some of their food is decent but...come on! Yes, we get a snack after the 2nd period of every game but that's it. And it's considered a "treat" I just get dippin dots and my brother gets either a pretzel or walking taco. We don't keep coming back with tons of food.
While I'm on the subject of people. I had an interesting experience today at the nail salon. H. and I went in and got our monthly pedicure (it's expenxive I know but it's the one thing I do for myself!). Sitting two chairs down from us, were two ladies appearing to be mother and daughter. They didn't seem too bad at first but then came the whining and complaining! The daughter started complaining that the lotion or whatever was stinging her legs. I didn't think too much about it because sometimes it does. So the lady who owns the place told another lady to just wash her legs off. Then the customers started talking in Russian or something. We weren't sure. Then they went off and got their nails done. I was sitting across from them later while we were all waiting for our toes to dry. They started talking in English about how bad the ladies were that did their nails. They acted like the people in there couldn't understand English. I thought that was rather rude. They could've at least waited until they were out of the store or said it in Russian or something!
Well I will end this on a good note by saying I got accepted into Ball State University yesterday. As if that wasn't good enough, I also found out that a have a new baby cousin. It's a girl but they don't have a name yet. She was born at 9:48 or so Friday morning! It was just an all around good day yesterday!

My first post
So I was reading a blog of my teachers and was inspired. I'll attempt to make things interesting, although i promise nothing.
I thought to myself as I'm making this blog that I wouldn't have anything to talk about. Well, I was quickly proven incorrect. As I'm talking to my friend H., she tells me to call her mother and ask her to tell me this story. H. tells me that she hit something and that i just have to call her. So I call and her brother L. answers. He is a great story teller and began telling me what his mother did. I can't remember word for word how he told it but it was quite comical. The long story short is that his mother was driving and not really paying attention. L was looking at a comic book and happened to look up at the right time. He said he noticed they were "heading quite rapidly toward a cement block".
"I think to myself...is she going to stop? Is she parking? What is she doing?"
She ended up hitting one of those cement pole things that have a handicap parking sign on them. No one was hurt, not even the car. Although, sadly, the cement block i'm told, is now about 10 feet from where it's supposed to be.
That's all I can think of at the moment. There is a Komet game tonight so that should provide some entertainment and humor for tomorrow's post!
